Beb Cash Award

The Beb Cash Award is in memory of Bess "Beb" Cash, a 1951 graduate of the Medical College of Virginia and an active member who died as the result of a car-truck accident at the age of forty.

Purpose:

To recognize physical therapists who have made an outstanding contribution to clinical practice. Any member may nominate another for consideration of this award.

Prerequisite Criteria:

1. Be an active member of the VPTA .
2. Has been in clinical practice at least 5 years.

Supportive Narrative

A supportive narrative is required for each nominee. The narrative should emphasize the nominee's contributions to the profession in area of clinical practice. Specific examples are recommended to assist the committee in the evaluation process. Examples should include demonstration of the following, but do not have to be all inclusive or limited to them:
1. Is recognized by peers for high quality clinical practice or community service related to physical therapy or promoting the profession.
2. Uses evidence-based research to shape his/her practice.
3. Creates new approaches or extends knowledge into new areas in delivering physical therapy services.
4. Demonstrates practice patterns and behaviors that have net positive outcomes on the health status of patients.
5. Pursues a variety of life-long learning activities and incorporates this in the practice environment.
6. Acts as a role model or mentor/preceptor to colleagues and students.

Selection
Process:

Nominations must be submitted to the Nominating Committee Chair at least 2 (two) months prior to the VPTA Annual Chapter Conference. The Nominating Committee will make the final selection with the knowledge of the State President.

Presentation:

The recipient will receive an engraved plaque and a $250 cash award, which will be presented at the VPTA Annual Chapter Conference.
