Betsy Scudder, a school PT with Loudoun County Public Schools, wanted to find an activity her whole school could do that would help the kids learn that being fit is fun, and that PTs are people who can help them be healthy and fit. Working with the National Geographic Kids "Let's Jump" initiative which is an

international effort to break the Guinness World Record for the most number of people jumping in a 24-hour period, She had her school, Cedar Lane ES, jumping for one minute on Oct. 12, 2011. This initiative was also sponsored by Michelle Obama's Let's Move initiative.
In honor of National PT Month, she reached out to local PTs, and was very pleased to have 10 PTs, 1 PT clinic manager, and 1 PT aide, along with 5 non-PT volunteers, join them for this morning's event. The PTs who volunteered their time included Jessica Coleman, Leanne Good, Tammy Gray, Sara Kent, Francie Mitchell, Sara Peffley, Dallas Simons, Anne Suazo, Jonathan Ulrich, and Catherine Wycoff. Michele Wiley, PT, DPT, Related Services Supervisor for Loudoun County Public Schools, was also on hand. Cedar Lane's principal, James Dallas, along with PE teacher Greg Wuenschel were instrumental in organizing the movement of all the school kids in and out of the gym and cafeteria, as well as leading them in the one minute of jumping jacks.
