Over 80 PTs, PTAs and students descended on the capital Thursday, January 14, to meet with the Senators and Delegates as they began the legislative session for 2010. This year we introduced a bill to protect the terms “Physical Therapy” and “Physiotherapy”. Senate Bill 195 was introduced by Senator Ralph Northam MD and House Bill 153 was introduced by Delegate John O’Bannon MD. Much ground work had been previously accomplished by the term protection coalition of over 450 therapists. The lobby day was geared to further the activity and make the bill more personal.
